If you are new to synthesizers and different synthesis methods, see Synthesizer basics overview. Also see the Alchemy tutorial introduction for Logic Pro for detailed tasks on the use of several advanced Alchemy synthesis features. Before you can design new sounds with Alchemy you need to understand how its different parts fit together, and how each of them contributes to what you hear.
The diagram shows signal flow from left to right through the different sound generating and processing modules. Each sound can contain up to four sources: A, B, C, and D. Each source consists of additive, spectral, granular, sampler, and virtual analog elements. Multiple elements can be active in each source. Each source has three independent filters that can operate in parallel or in series. These sources are used to create and shape the basic tone of the sound.
All modulation in this section applies per voice. The Morph option lets you blend all four of these or however many you have enabled. In the window to the right you can drag the blue dot around to blend the four sources.
Above the 2 knobs on the right is a tab bar. Select the third option called Morph XY, and slide the dot around to see if you like the sound. The Perform pad is something unique to Alchemy, and having 4 oscillators is no joke! Hopefully that gives you enough insight to start playing around with Alchemy in Logic Pro X. The interface is arguably a bit clunky and dated compared to some other modern soft synths, and we can only hope that the rumors are true that Apple plans on updating it a bit to put it on par with Serum and Massive.

Frustrated by the sonic limitations of the EXS24 sampler? You might well have already! Its strength is undoubtedly the speed alchsmy which you can map a variety of samples in seconds. When it comes to alchemy logic pro x tutorial free design, though, it starts to show its age. Something where the samples only formed the starting point of your creative process? Alchemy patches use a total of four Sources — A, B, C and D — that can be thought of as four oscillators. As well as holding a sawtooth or square wave, Alchemy can import a series of mapped samples into a Source.
The mapped samples could be a series of one-shot, velocity-switched drum samples, for example, or a collection of multi-sampled pad sounds spread across the frew range of the keyboard. As each Source посетить страницу its own sample map, Alchemy instantly trumps the EXS24 in its ability to have four discrete layers in a single patch.
One key concept to grasp as this point, though, is that the samples can be imported using a series of loogic modes — Additive, Spectral, Granular and Sampler. Once the sample data has tutoorial loaded into a Source, we can start to get creative. The key signal-processing features to note are that the playback engine has two separate multi-mode filters as well as four independent effects busses A, B, C and D and a Main effects bus. The immediate creative task is to think alchsmy how each of your four Sources could use these features, maybe routing groups of Sources through different filters, for example, or using a different effects block for each Source.
The walkthrough illustrates some examples using drum samples, but there are alchemy logic pro x tutorial free number of interesting options to explore outside of this, especially when you start to also add in the possibility of including modulators like LFOs and step sequencers to control these signal processors.
One of my favourite creative applications of Alchemy is the Granular /99033.txt, which is one of the alternative ways you can import and manipulate sample data.
Rather than simply playing back the sample data sequentially, the Alchemy logic pro x tutorial free mode sees the sample data as a series of sound grains, each lasting no more than a few samples. By repeating these grains, a sound pfo effectively become frozen in time, or you could slowly move through the grains to produce a wavetable-like sound. As the walkthrough illustrates, this can sound great on drums, particularly for glitch-like treatments in harder forms alcyemy electronic music.
While I would always frer the EXS24 for more complicated mapping tasks, Alchemy clearly comes out on top when it comes to sonic mangling. Click on the Saw label to open the drop-down Source menu, where you can select the Import Audio option.
Alchemy logic pro x tutorial free should now be presented with a file browser. Drag the included samples over to the Dropzone and order them as alchemy logic pro x tutorial free want them to be arranged tutoorial the keyboard, starting from C1.
Once this is sorted, press the Import button to have Alchemy map the samples. By default, Alchemy has alchemy logic pro x tutorial free sluggish attack time 0. Reduce this to 0. You could also try creatively adjusting the envelope. Move out of the Global view to see the individual controls for the Source. We need to change the Source from being Mono note the circle icon to the left of the Edit button to the interlinked Stereo option.
Pressing the Edit button brings up the Sample Mapping screen for the Source. Note the series of Zones one for each drum sample positioned consecutively from C1 on the keyboard. Each Zone has its own set of associated parameters, including a Volume, Tune and Pan control. Thtorial panning the three toms across the soundstage, and experimenting with different tuning on the kick drum. Try some creative applications with layered Sources.
From the Source menu, select Читать больше Source which will place all the samples with their mapping onto the tutorixl. In Source B, select Paste Source. Our aim here is to differentiate different samples between the two Sources.
Pressing it will reverse the playback of all futorial samples in the Zone. Copy an existing Source, but then reverse the duplicate layer.
Repeat the same process on 3d changelog free B, but this time delete привожу ссылку the other Zones, leaving just the snare Zone on D1. Play back the included drum sequence and notice how the two D are triggered at different points.
Route the second filter to FX A using the drop-down Routing option. Open the Alchemy logic pro x tutorial free tab at the bottom of Alchemy. Because frre the routing, these effects are solely applied to the snare. The main effects are applied to the kit as a whole, including the processed snare.
Use Import to load samples as before, although this time select Granular for the Analysis mode and Drum for the Tutoeial option. Either Solo Source C or deactivate the other Взято отсюда. Set Source C to Stereo mode and playback the sequence.
Try increasing Logix so that the grains are distributed across the loigc, creating a granular shimmer. Reduce the sustain accordingly. Return to the Global view and balance the effect. Sample magic Aclhemy patches use a total of four Sources — A, B, C and D — that can be thought of as four oscillators. Tone Empire Firechild compressor review: The vari-mu king gets convolved.

If you want to create purely synthetic sounds, the additive, spectral, and virtual analog synthesis engines are full-featured, matching or exceeding the power and facilities of many standalone instruments. An Alchemy preset can contain up to four sources, each using one or more synthesis engines. You can morph or crossfade between these sources. Dozens of modeled analog and digital filters are available, in addition to multiple racks of integrated effect units and an extensive modulation section.
Alchemy also features a powerful arpeggiator that can control each source independently and provides flexible pattern modulation options.

This will be useful in the future to quickly get to the presets that you like.
Here you can edit the meta data for the preset. You can click that to remove it as a filter option going further. Now click on the Rating heading, and all the patches will be sorted by Rating. Notice that Rain Strum is at the top of the list if you gave it 5 stars.
Click on the Simple Tab. It basically just collapses or hides the browse section. This is called the Perform Section. Click that and drag down and to the right. Each of these options is a perform preset called a snapshot, and the names are different for each of the patches.
Go ahead and right click the first snapshot, select Swap Current Snapshots, and select the number 2. This is useful if say you liked the first snapshot, but thought it would blend well with the last snapshot.
You can now move them around to create different combinations. If you adjust any of the knobs, they will stay that way if you switch to another snapshot. If you right click on any of the knobs, and look under Delete Modulation, it will show what parameter is assigned to that knob. All the way to the right are the standard ADSR controls found on most synths. The main thing to know is that there are 4 oscillator sections, A through D.
